MAURETANIA'S EQUIPMENT. 1 British Official Wireless. RUGBY, August 13. When the new Cunard-Wliite Star liner Mauretania docks at New York at the end of her present voyage orders will be spoken quietly from the bridge through a microphone of a new radiotelephone device, and will be received by tug masters through a loudspeaker. This will obviate the usual shouted orders.
The radio-telephone will be used to ascertain the weather conditions when the liner is many miles off the Ambrose Light. The Mauretania's famous predecessor of the same name was the first merchant vessel to use wireless for direc-tion-findinsr. and the new liner is the first to introduce radio-telephony for dockaig and obtaining weather news. Another device used successfully is a microphone on the bridge communicating with loud speakers at all the boat j stations on the ship. It is believed that j this method would greatly facilitate I rescue operations in an emergency. I
