PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.
NORTHCOTE MEETING
The president, Mrs. W. E. Carter, occupied the chair at the monthly gathering in the Parish Hall of the Xorthcote Women's Progressive League. She stated that donations by Mrs. I. Muirliead and Mr. W. F. Ward had brought tlie fund for Christmas comforts for returned soldier patients in mental hospitals to £20 S/(i. Mrs. Carter also stated that she had planted a tree in the Xorthcote High School ground on Arbor Day on behalf of the league.
At the request of the convener, Mrs. Archie Campbell, several members agreed, to assist in making artificial flowers for Centennial decorations.
It was resolved to communicate with the Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, requesting that steps be taken to ensure prompt reinstatement of the vehicular service to Xorthcote. The Waitemata Harbour Bridge Association requested permission to address members iu connection with the project and it was decided to invite them to attend the September meeting.
An enjoyable programme followed, songs being contributed by Miss Winifred Johnson, and musical monologues by Mrs. F. Mavall. The one-act play "Snowed up with a Duchess" was presented by Mesdames W. F. Ward, R. Davies, B. Tremain and S. Carter. The parts in the sketch "Modern Economy" were taken by Mrs. C. 11. Colegn. •: 1 Mrs. S. T. Carter.
