WHY DICTATORSHIPS?

Freedom and the duty of Christian people formed the subject of a sermon delivered by Archdeacon G. Mat-Murray in St. Mary's Cathedral yesterday morning, on the occasion of his 84th birthday. He said peoples who were ruled by dictatorship* to-day enjoyed no freedom of thought and opinion, and in Germany the old pagan gods were emerging again. Were liritish people to-day sufficiently conscious of what would result from u weak neglect of their national duty ? If Britain failed to give liberty to the world the human race would suffer an enormous loss. The problem of an overruling Providence was one which had to be reasoned out in every generation, and particularly at a time" when people were asking why Hitlers and Mussolinis had arisen to trouble humanity.
