"ROSE MARIE."
SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTION.
| Many are the Aucklanders singing the romantic melody of "Rose Marie," the popular theme song of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society's presentation, which is proving so popular at His Majesty's Theatre. Xot only is the singing excellent, but evoking equal applause are the ballet numbers. Sybil Phillipps equals those who have portrayed the part of Rose Marie in other productions and delights the audiences with her rendering of the popular songs. Tony Rex also capably performs his role as Jim Kenyon, Rose Marie's lover, showing that he has both dramatic and vocal ability to win whole-hearted applause. As tile Indian lialf-brecd "Wanda," Bettina Edwards makes a deep impression, and with other members of the ballet gives an outstanding performance. Contrasting roles are played by Antonia Martinengo and Baxii Robson as Lady Jane and "Hard-boiled" Herman, who successfully carry out the difficult task of being amusing. Other members of the cast also contribute to the success of the presentation.
