ROAD RACE ACCIDENT.
When a motor cycle was involved in a collision with a group of four racing cyclists, just south of the Orewa Bridge, who were competing in the North Shore Amateur Cycling Club's 52-mile road race lrom Devonport to Orewa and oack, on Saturday afternoon, the five cyclists were injured. Two were brought to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance, while the others came by car. The injured persons were: Mr. Andrew Elia, aged 23, of 34, Hutton Road, Birkenhead, head and facial injuries.
Mr. Frank Tredrea, aged 19, of 35, Marinui Avenue, Point Chevalier, a fracture of the thumb.
Mr. Cyril Douglas Lapwood, aged 22, of 40. Amaru Koad, Onehunga, scalp abrasions and shock.
Mr. Charles Henry Picknell, aged 19, of 11!), Arthur Street, Onehunga, bruises to the iKxly.
lu. Harry Rogers, the motor cyclist, of 17, Tawa Street, Eden Terrace, fracture of a finger.
The last two named were not admitted to the Hospital. Those admitted are all in a satisfactory condition. The riders were descending the hill in single file about three hundred yards distant from the approach to the bridge, when the mishap occurred. Members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade who were following the race in a motor car treated the injured men. They were assisted by the district nurse from Silverdale. The three who were least injured were takea to Auckland by cars, ' and the others remained to receive treatment until a St. John ambulance arrived from the citv.
