POINT CHEVALIER CLUB.

FINAL RACES OF SEASON. The Point Chevalier Sailing Club held their final races of the 1038-89 season yesterday afternoon in a light southerly breeze, starting and finishing off the clubhouse. In the handicap race for the V ami L classes, Tiure (ex Martha S.), owned and sailed by Mr. Geo. McKeown, commodore of the club, won by lm 45s from Mr. B. Schmidt's Riptide. The win, which was the commodore's flr«t for the past two seasons In this club, was a popular one, the skipper and his mnlnsheet man, Doug. Rogers, receiving congratulations as tjaey landed. . The races were started on the Mark Foy system of allowing handicaps at the start. In the V and L class. Venus, on 14m, woe went away at 2.40 p.m., followed a minute later by Tiure, Teniaraire, Dm later, and Riptide, scratch, 4m after Teniaraire. The race was two round* of the usual course, and on the first round Tlare had a lead of over Cm from Riptide, 'flare did well on the second round especially on the last beat into the finishing line, and the result was: Tlare, 4h 34m 14s, 1; Riptide, 4h 30m, 2; Teniaraire, 4b. 45m 40a, i 3. Venus retired. Te Whare Trophy for S Class.—Wahoo, limit boat in this race, was dispatched at 12.40 p.m., followed by Awatea, Reveller I (9m), Scimitar and Leone (both acr). Reveller led Wahoo on the first round, and the result was: l>one, 4h 47m 20s, 1 and trophy; Reveller, 4h 48m 555, 2; Scimitar, 4h 54m 12s, 3. Wahoo finished at 5h 12m 20s, and Awatea retired. T, X and Y Clays.—For the Dulux prise the starters were: Val (20m), Oreti (14m), Alua (9m), Malvlna (3m) and Endeavour (scr) in this order of handicap. Oreti led Malvina at completion of first round, and the finish was: Malvlna, 4b 47m 10s, 1 and trophy; Endeavour, 4h 55m 345, 2; Oreti. 5h lm 12s, 3. The others retired. A handicap race, all starting together, for the silver Fern and Z class, resulted in a win for Kandy Kid, well sailed by Miss Betty Webbter, another popular win. The finish was: Kandy Kid (scr), 4h 12m 8s: Te Uira (3D), 4h 17m 20s; Robin (6m) 4h 20m 275: Cockle (30*0, 4h 22m 45s Result: Kandy Kfd 1, Te Uira 2, Robin 3. The officers of the day were Messrs. H Ibbcrtson, J. Cleai, B. Talbot and W. If Oliver. | _ GENERAL HANDICAP. WON BY BENNY. A handicap race over a course round the pile beacon and back, started at 4.15 p.m. The competitors and their handicaps were: Swish, scr; Te Uira, 30s; Falcon, lm; Benpy, 2m; Meola 2m; Aotca, 3m. Benny was ilrst off, followed by Meola, Swish, Te Uira Falcon and Aoteu. The finish was: Benny, 4h 35m 425; Falcon. -»h 35m s<>s; Swish, 4h 3«m Us; Te Uira, 4h 37m 10s. The others did not finish. Fletcher, representing the Devonport Club. t MODEL YACHTING. M i The Ponsonby Model Yacht Club held three races yesterday afternoon in St. Mary's Bav, starting and finishing off the Ponsonby jetty. There was a light southerly breeze and the finishes were close. Hcsultw.—Three-footers: Cynthia (4m), 1 ; Billy Boy (scr). 2: Ilto, (4m), 3. General handicap: Clipper (dm). 1, Ariel (Hrri 2- Mako (4m. 3. Four-footers: Mako (4m). 1; Ariel (scr). 2; Clipper (2m), 3. In the general bydlcap Tito was first on handicap but reputed striking a mark. MANUKAU CLUB. The Manukan Cruising Club held Its annual race for the Blockhouse Bay Cup in stormy conditions. The course was set from Onehunga wharf to Blockhouse Bay. Finishing times were :—Clyde. 3b -8m ; Valrosa. 3h 28m 4s; Satanlta, 3b 32m 225; Sirona. 3h 37m 11": Early Bird, 3h 4bm 555: Rnnui, 3h 47m 445.
