COMPULSORY UNION.
FARMERS REJECT MOVE. (From Our Correspondent.) ' PUKEKOHE, Friday. ' A motion in favour of compulsory unionism for farmers was lost by a substantial majority at the annual meeting of the Franklin sub-provincial executive of the Farmers' Union at Mauku to-day. Officers were elected as follow:— President, Mr. R. J. Glasgow; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. Draper, A. E. Moore and J. R. McArthur; delegates to the provincial conference, Messrs. Draper, McArthur, H. Dyer, L. C. Lean T. H. Phillips, G. Walsh, R. Cryer, L G.' G. Strachan, W. Bremner, D. H. Renton and A. Woolsey.
