Reversing his plea to guilty Jack Benny was fined ,10,000 dollars and placed on probation for one year. A gaol sentence of one year and a day was suspended. The comedian turned crimson under a severe tongue-lashing from the judge who, pointing out that Benny made a large fortune from screen and radio, told him his act was a poor return for the country which, had done so much for him. He told him he should be ashamed.
