HAMILTON WEST SCHOOL.
PARENTS LOSING- INTEREST.
(From Our Correspondent.)
HAMILTON, Tuesday.
A lessening of interest in the school on the part of parents was referred to in the annual report of the Hamilton West School Parents' Association last evening. This factor was attributed to the delay in the erection of the new school. It was stated that the site of the new school in Fow Street was being prepared.
The headmaster, Mr. L. J. Mark, said that a willing few shouldered the whole burden, and it appeared that interest in the association was beginning to wane. In the past the association had raised hundreds of pounds, and this money had been spent on improving the present grounds. The levelling of the Fow Street site had cost the Education Department from £1300 to £1500.
Mr. R. E. Conradi said the new school would consist of ten claesroms and shelter sheds under one roof.
The following officers were elected:— Patron.. Mr. C. R. Barrell, M.P.; president, Mrs. A. K. Meldrum; secretaries, Messrs. W. K. O'Hara and R. S. R. Seddon; committee, Mesdames R. S. Bateman, E. H. Tyler, C. R. Edwards, G. R. Burnet, Messrs. W. Storrie. G. Ruesell, S. H. Sofleld and J. L. Buthell.
