SHIPPING PRECAUTIONS.
BRITISH EMPIRE PORTS,
Notification of procedure to be followed when entering British Empire ports in time of crisis is given in a reprint of an Admiralty notice in the Gazette. The notice states that when eignals are displayed, merchant vessels must approach the port or locality with great caution and must obey implicitly orders given by examination vessels or signal stations. If entrance to a port is prohibited, the notice states, three red lights vertically displayed by night, and 1 three red balls , by day, will be exhibited in prominent places and on certain patrol ships. In some casee an examination may be necessary. Vessels are asked to keep a special look-out for vessels carrying distinguishing flags or lights and to be ready to stop when warned.
