THREAT TO BOMB SYDNEY CATHEDRAL.
ARCHBISHOP WARNED. "Reprisal For Outrages In England." DIRECTED AGAINST IRISH. United l'ress 'Association.—Copyright. (Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. A police guard has been placed at St. Mary's Cathedral following a threat to bomb it. The threat was made to Archbishop Kelly in an anonymous letter, ■ which stated that the bombing was to be a reprisal for the bomb outrages in England. The writer declared that his intended action was directed against the Irish people. .Although the police are inclined to believe the letter was sent by an irresponsible person, they have adopted very extensive precautions. All wireless patrols and police cars have been ordered to keep the Cathedral under surveillance.
MORE DISTURBANCES. Minor Explosions In London Area. j POLICE INVESTIGATIONS. (Received 12 noon.) LOXDOX, February 9. Two brown paper parcels containing incendiary matter caused minor explosions in coal bays at King's Cross. The police are investigating. Charles MacCarthy was charged and remanded on charges of being in possession of numerous explosive objects. The fire brigade extinguished a smouldering incendiary bomb in a timber yard near Edgwarc Road. Little damage was done. A message from Belfast says that four men were arrested there after the discovery of Irish Republican Army posters bearing the words: "We, the citizens of the Irish Republic,'demand the release of Republicans from Ulster gaols." These posters were placarded on public buildings.
