Italy Can Mobilise 10,000,000 Men. : NEWSPAPER'S ESTIMATE. (Received 2 p.m.') ROME, February 9. ; The "Tribuna" estimates' that Italy is in a position to mobilise an army of 10,000,000. It explains that the decree of February 1 radically changes mobiHsHtion regulations. REASON GIVEN. Calling Up Of 1901 Class In Italy. RETRAINING NECESSARY. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, February 9. The Foreign Under-Secretary; Mr. R. A. Butler, was questioned in the House of Commons regarding the calling up of (10,000 men of the 1901 class in Italy. In reply he said the British Ambassador at Rome had been informed that this was purely an administrative measure without political significance. This class was the oldest class of those not engaged in the Great War, and it underwent its military training at a time when conditions were abnormal. It had been thought that the retraining of certain nieii in this class would be desirable.
