TRAM BLOCKS ROAD.
DOMINION ROAD COLLISION
• With a crash like an explosion, that was heard several hundred yards away, a trajnear and a heavy truck came into collision in Dominion Road yesterday afternoon. The tram was partially derailed, elewed aerobe the road, almost blocking it. Slight cuts about the head were suffered by the motorman, Mr. H. Watson, of Ponsonby, but after treatment he was able to go home. Both vehicles were city-bound. The truck turned to go into Duke Street, and when the vehicle* collided the front bogey of the tram jumped off the line. Damage was done to the front cab of the tram, but the truck, which wae carrying a load of scoria, was undamaged. The driver, Mr. D. Siebert, of Mangcre, escaped without a.scratch. There appeared to be danger of a serious traffic block, but eventually the tram Wae got back on the raik at 4.45 p.m. As the accident occurred near the terminus, tram schedules were not seriously interfered with.
