TAXI DRIVERS' DISPUTE.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER

WELLINGTON , , Wednesday.
At the conclusion of to-day's sitting of the Conciliation Council considering the Dominion taxi-drivers' dispute, it was decided to send a deputation to the. Minister of Transport, the Hon. R Scmple. to ask him to have the wiiolo industry brought under uniform control r« soon as possible. The council spent the whole dav discussing claims and counter-claims, but reached finality oil only a few minor clauses, the remainder being held over for further discussion at eittinjre to be held tomorrow and on Friday. The employers contended that tne award would affect regularly only about a tenth of the cabs in New Zealand Tho industry desi.ed betterment of conditions, but only on lines applicable to the whole. A joint deputation to the Minister was suggested to ask that control over the industry should be introduced immediately. The bill promised had been passed, so its regulations would apply coincidentally with the award. The workers agreed to support the employers in the deputation.
