FOUR DRIVERS FINED.
"These charges are moflt petty. Tt appears to be an example of the pinpricking policy of the Auckland Harbour Hoard." declared Mr. Bryee Hart in the •Magistrate's Court yesterday when he appeared in defence of four taxi drivers who were charged before Mr. J. Morling, S.M., with leaving their cabs unattended on January «. They were W. H. MeKechnie. C\ S. IT. Nuiiii, L. Postlewaight and J. Staekpole. Tor the Harbour Board, Mr. Elliot said that the offences occurred when the Otranto was in port. Close supervision was needed, for there was a great deal of traffic and the space wae restricted. A traffic officer employed by the board, Roehard Cochrane, detailed times at which the cars had been unattended. A fine of ."»/ in each case was imposed, with 10/ costs.
