POWER ACCOUNTS.
IN REMOTE DISTRICTS.
ADOPTION OF NEW SYSTEM
A plan to reduce the cost of dealing with the accounts of consumers living at the extremities of its district has been adopted by the Auckland Electric Power Board, and has led to an erroneous impression that in future the board proposes to introduce a system of finessing its accounts in" the whole of its area. I Questioned concerning the position this morning, the general manager of the board, Mr. R. H. Bartley, said that in cases where consumers lived thirty and forty miles from the city it had proved difficult and costly to send out monthly accounts under the old system. The accounts were so small that it was not difficult to assess them, and this would lie done in future, a check of the amounts charged being made every two or three months. Accounts would be sent out monthly, and only ,a small percentage of them was affected.
