FEES NOT PAID.
HOSPITAL PATIENTS. CONCERN AT HAMILTON. (Br Telegraph—Own Correspondent ) HAMILTON, this day. The difficulty of collecting patients' fees at the Waikato Hospital last year * was referred to by the chairman, Mr. Findlay, at a meeting of the Hospital Board. "It is believed." he said, "that a large number of people, although well able to pay. are withholding payment of hospital accounts 011 the assumption that they will not be required to settle the accounts incurred before the coming into operation of the Social SecurityAct. Such an assumption is incorrect. The position is serious. The total amount collected. £27.137. is £1737 short on a proportionate estimate."
