EIGHT DAYS.

TRIP TO WELLINGTON.

YACHT ROVER IN PORT.

BIG ISA CAME ABOARD,

(By Telegraph—Preg« Association.) WELLINGTON, this dav

The yacht Rover, which left Auckland on November 23, arrived at Wellington this morning. She was becalmed on several occasions, once for the better part of two da vs.

The yacht struck really rough weather only a few miles off Wellington Heads. The best day's run was 15ft miles on the stretch from Gisborne to Cape Turnagain, but there the wind failed.

The crew had made a spinnaker boom out of oars and a plank, and while improvising this a member fell ovprboard. but was promptly rescued. Off Cape Turnagafn they caught an albicore, a rather rare fish with unusual side fins. They always had plenty of fish, as they only had to put a line over the side when they wanted to catch some. While fishing oIT Cape Palliser light they signalled the keeper and asked him to report them, but they were still there next morning'. Here a shark robbed them of some fish. Thev had two kahawai and two barracuda hanging over the side, and the shark "-ot theiiT I'hey drifted till they got a light southeasterly. Off 1 itrikirae thev struck a bad tide rip and if began to' blow with increasing force, so that they had to shorten sail till they were under the foresail alone. One big sea broke over them and there was water to a depth of six inches in the cabin, while gome crockery was broken.

The harbour was made under engine and sail. At no time did the craft give the crew the slightest anxiety.
