SUMMER EXHIBITION.
SOCIETY OF ARTS.
MANY VISITORS PRESENT.
' There was a large crowd of members and friends at the Auckland Society of Arts rooms last evening when the summer exhibition of the society was officially opened. In addition to oils and. water colours there was an excellent display of black and white work, and a small exhibition of hand-made pottery which caused much interest among the visitors present.
The rooms were attractively decorated for the occasion with bowls of pastelshaded. sweet peas and i»ale pink roses. The exhibition was officially opened by the president of the society, Mr. Richard 0. Gross, tie was accompanied by Mrs. Gross, who was wearing a flock of bottle green flamisol silk.
The guest of honour for the evening was Miss Jean Farquhar, the Auckland Society of Arts Carnegie scholarship holder. Miss Farquhar wa« wearing a frock of navy and white patterned chiffon.
