MILITARY DISTRICTS.
RECRUITS AND DISCHARGES,
A graph showing the numbers of recruits and discharges for the three military districts has been issued'by the Army Department. Not only does the Department desire to increase the number of trainees, but it also wants to keep the personnel at the highest point of efficiency. The discharges, therefore. show the number who have been retired. or who have resigned, or who have left the forces for some other reason.
In the northern military district, that in which Auckland is situated, the graph shows the recruits number 179, and discharges 82. The corresponding numbers for the central district are 233 and 83, while in the southern district 163 recruits have joined and only 54 have left. The last-named district, therefore, has the best relationship between recruits and discharges.
