SUPREME COURT ACTION.
CLAIM BY TRAMWAYIUN.
The part-heard Supreme Court action in which a tramwayman, Leo David Smith, of Parnell, claimed £2800 damages against Northern Transport, Limited, of V.'hangarei, has been settled.
Evidence was heard on Thursday and Friday relative to the injury sustained by plaintiff by being knocked down by a lorry when he was on duty a* a tramway track-man in Beach Road, with a view to assessing the amount of
damages.
When the jury assembled this morning, Mr. Justice Callan said that he had been notified by Messrs. Sullivan and Goldmine, counsel in the case, that they and their clients had succeeded in arranging the matter, and the services of the jury were not required further.
Hie Honor adjourned the action in case the assistance of the Court should be required in finalising the settlement, with leave to bring it on again at one day's notice.
