PORT ACTIVITY
AUGUST IMPORTS INCREASE. 1 I Comparisons of port returns -were made in a report received' at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board this afternoon from the traffic manager, Mr. W. R. Golden. He said that at Auckland, for August compared with July, imports showed an increase of 18,55S tons, and transhipments an increase of 825 tons. Exports showed a decrease of 4339 tons, the total being an increase of 15,074 tons. At Onehunga, compared with July, imports showed an increase of 237 tons, and export* an increase of 233 tone, a total increase of 470 tons.
The inward passengers returns for August were 1539, compared with 29G6 for the same month of the previous year.
