WHEN ARRESTED.

POLICE ALLEGATION. rOUTH APPEARS IN COURT. ( m HOUSE-BREAKING CHARGE. About 9.30 last night Constable K. Boag, of Xew Lynn, and Detective Harris went to a house in Xew Lynn, where they arrested a youth of 19 on a charge of breaking and entering. The youth was allegedly found to have in hi« possession a seven-chambered .22 calibre revolver, loaded in six chambers.

Constable Boag las for some time been investigating a -series of burglaries which have occurred in the Henderson and New Lynn districts since last Kaster, a number of shojw and houses being entered and a considerable quantity of goods stolen.

Yesterday afternoon Constable Boag interviewed two youths in connection with the crimes. It is stated that the police believe a gang of youths, whose agea range from 15 to 17, have been involved, and that four will shortly appear on a eerie* of charges before the Children's Court.

Yesterday the police seized a quantity of miscellaneous goods which are alleged to have been stolen from some of the eleven premises entered. These included five radio acts, a quantity of cigarettes and tobacco, tinned fruit, telescope* and groceries. Some of this property was found in the ceiling of a house and some under a house.

The police also have in their possession skeleton keys and pieces of wire which could be need for picking lock*. To-day Detective Harris and Constable Boag interviewed two more youths, and also made in the Henderson district.

The yojith who was arrested last night was Vernon Williamson, aged 19, a radio mechanic.

This morning he appeared* in the Police Court before Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., charged, on September 7 with breaking and entering the shop of Ina La Rosa, Godley Road, Green Bay, with intent to commit a crime.

Detective-Sergeant McHugh obtained a remand until September 29.

When the magistrate mentioned the matter of bail, Detective-Sergeant McHugh aaid: "This youth was found with a loaded firearm, bo I will oppose the granting of bail."
