WCISSIONER FOR WAR ZONE. SYDNEY, September 15. A "faith missioner" pencilled a berth for China with 0/ and with £30 after i paying his fare. He is Mr. S. A. (Phil) I'errett, 23. He left Sydney by the Xellore to penetrate 3000 miles inland to war-ravaged areas of China. Six weeks earlier. lie said, he "answered the call as a missionary for the Lord." He then pencilled his ship berth. ''You see. the means were found for me to fro. and I am depending on Hod to look after me as I take the message of the Seventh Day Advent ists to China," he said. Risking Life. Mr. Perrett told his fiancee, Miss Edna Revell. li». of Killara. that there was always the possibility of his losing his life in the Rust, as many other missionaries had done in recent years. "If you lose your life in China doing the Lord's work I will sail in the next ship to take your ph.ee." she replied. Mr. Perrett said he was inspired to take tip missionary work in China by stories told by Pastor K. A. Allum, who worked there for ](j years.
-Vine missionaries left in the Xellore for different parts of China, including .Japanese-controlled areas. There were many emotional scenes on the liner's decks, and on the wharf, as thev were farewelled by several hundred friends and relatives.
Miss Mary Adams left for her first missionary work in Chekian<r Province, where she will be stationed for rive years. She has been sent by the Church Missionary Society. Seven other missionaries left on behalf of the China Inland Mission.
