HOWICK SCHOOL.
EAST TAMAKI ACTIVITIES. The committee sponsoring the East Taniaki Queen. Miss Manreen Allen, in the Howiek School Queen Carnival held a successful children's plain and fancy dress party recently in the East Taniaki Public Hall, when there was a large attendance of residents. The grand march whs led by Miss Allen, followed by numerous children in many picturesque costumes.
The president thanked Mrs. Elmbranch for her excellent work in organising this function. Several folk dances were staged by the children and met with much applause from an appreciative audience.
The East Tamaki branch of the Women's Institute assisted with a function which considerably augmented the funds of the queen" carnival.
The final results of the queen carnival were made l:nown a few days later at Howick, when the East Tamaki queen led by over. 4000 votes, the placinge being as follows:—East Tamaki, 15,207; Buck lands Beach, 11,312; Howick, 3760; Whit ford, 3208.
The crowning of the queen will take place at a later date. Over £400 was raised although the committee had hoped to raise £200.
