BOAT HARBOUR.
ORAKEI PEOPLE PROTEST.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER
Opposition to the scheme to build a boat harbour at Okahu Bay, Orakei, was expressed by a deputation of residents of the district who waited this afternoon on the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parrv.
A proposal has. been laid before the Auckland Harbour Board by the (superintendent and engineer, Mr. D. Holderness, to provide accommodation at Okahu Bay for the pleasure craft at present moored in Mechanics' Bay, a* this area is required for port development.
Many resident* of the Orakei district are said to fear that the proposed work would not only do much to spoil the appearance of the nay, but would also considerably interfere with its use for bathing.
