Polyglot Stream Makes Inquiry

EAGER TO MIGRATE
LONDON, June 30
Lately a steady stream of inquiries regarding settlement in the Commonwealth has reached Australia House from Czechoslovakia and other parts of unsettled Europe. Many of the applicants have called personally to find out what chance they have of entering Australia.
The Freeland organisation is still following up the question of sending out Jews from Poland and Rumania, as well as from Germany and Austria.
Tens of thousands of Spanish refugees living in France and elsewhere are likely to be tremendously increased in number if the Non-intervention Committee succeeds in securing the withdrawal of foreigners from Spain.
Numbers of Italians, Germans, Pole* and White Russians, who have been fighting on the side opposite to that supported by their national Governments, will have no place to go if Franco wins.
Probably hundreds of thousands of Catalans will flee from Spain just as 40.000 Basques have already taken refuge in France. It is likely that many will escape from Valencia.
If Franco loses there will still be an exodus from the territory, though probably a smaller one.
