CRASH INTO POLE.
BAND INVOLVED. RETURNING FROM DANCE. CAR DRIVER KILLED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRIST CHURCH, this day. While returning from a dance at Amber ley about 3.25 o'clock this morning, Mr. John Joseph Costley, aged 36, was seriously injured when the car he was driving crashed into a power pole at the side of the road near the Northcote settlement. He was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital, but died later. The dead man, together with other members of a dance band, was returning to Christchurch.
