BUSH SIDE BEATEN.

TOURING HOCKEY TEAM. INDIANS' SECOND MATCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday. Playing their second match since their arrival in the Dominion, the Indian hockey team defeated the Bush representatives at Pahiatua to-day by 3 goals to" 1, in the presence of 1000 spectators. The weather was bitterly cold and the ground soon became mud-ridden owing to the heavy rain that fell overnight and continued in the early part of the day. The first half ended with one goal apiece. The visitors delighted the crowd with their command over the ball and their understanding, which repeatedly had Bush greasing. Unfortunately, the slushy nature of the ground was against open play, but it was obvious that with dry conditions the speed and combination of the team would call other sides to produce hockey of the highest order. Credit must be given to the Bush team for the effective manner in which they smothered the opposition, who were unable to adapt themselves to the conditions ruling, being obliged to move warily. Sigvertson goaled for Bush, who were the first to score, followed by Sultan Khan, the brilliant left inside forward, who repeated his effort in the second spell, just before the end of which Abdul Latif notched the third goal for the Indians. The centre-forward Mohd Ahmed Khan and the right outside forward Shahabuddin were always prominent, and with Sultan Khan, were responsible for most of the attacking movements. The shooting was not particularly accurate, and was doubtless attributable to the insecure foothold of the players. The goalie, Ben Abraham, was not found wanting on the few occasions he was tried out, ar»d tile Bush goalie, K. Ngatuere came I through with distinction to aid the good defence of Boustad and Thompson in the back division. Strand and G. Reakure both played a sterling game in the forwards for Bush. The referees were Messrs. Martin (Wellington) and Scott (Pahiatua). JUNIOR MANAGEMENT. REQUEST FROM HAMILTON. A request received by the junior management board of the Auckland Rugby Union from the Hamilton Union for a strong junior team to be sent to play a match at Hamilton was considered last night at the board's meeting. The matter was referred to the Grammar Old Boys' Club.
