BRADMAN TWICE ON LIST

In the history of first-class cricket onlv six players have compiled 1000 runs by the end of May. D. G. Bradman is the only man to do it twice, his antagonist in the coming Anglo-Australian Tests. D. G. Bradman, 1930: In 11 innings (four not outs) between April 30 and May 31, 1001 runs, highest score 252 not out, average 143.

T. Hay ward (Surrey), 1900: In 13 innings (twice not out), up to May 31, including one match in April, 1074 runs, highest score 193, average 97.63. D. G. Bradman, 1938: In eight innings (twice not out), between April 30 and May 31. 1051 runs, highest score 278. average He actually reached his 1000 on May 27 at Southampton, the earliest date any batsman ever did so, but it should be noted that he twice started off on April 30.

W. J. Edrich /Middlesex): In 13 innings (one not out), between April 30 and May 31. 1010 runs, highest score 245, average 84.16.

Hammond, who plays for the same county as Grace did (Gloucestershire), between May 4 and 31 this season made 951 runs in 12 innings, highest score 237, average 79.25.
