GRAMMAR BEATEN. GRAFTON STILL AHEAD, t DRAW AT SHOW GROUNDS. With four series of games decided, Grafton now stands two point* ahead of Grammar, Marist and Ponsonby in the Auckland Rugby Union's first division senior competition. Prior to Saturday Grammar stood level with Grafton, but owing to a distinct weakness in the inside backs Grammar went down to Ponsonby on .Saturday by i> pointe to nil. Grafton is now the only undefeated senior team. Before the Governor-General, Lord Galway, and the Mayor, Sir Earnest Davis, Ponsonby and Grammar staged a fairly exciting game on the main ground. Grammar had a distinct territorial advantage, but was unable to score. Back weaknesses also troubled University, who were defeated by Marist. Otahuhu were beaten by 30 points to 15 at Sturgcs Park, and Manukau and Xorth Shore, after an exciting game, drew, B—B,8 —8, at the Showgrounds. Results were: — Ponsonby 5, Grammar 0.
