TOPWEIGHT WINS.

High Star Tired at *End. The visitors were favoured with an excellent opening to the programme, All Irish winning easily from High Star, with several fighting it out hard over the last hurdle and distance for the places. High Star was tiring after leading most of the way. Jumped Well. Having his first race over hurdles since the spring. All Irish outstayed the opposition in the Hobsonville Hurdles. He jumped well throughout and lie should be a good prospect from now on. High Star made most of the running, but tired. over the final stages, while. Kilberis .showed improvement oil his form of last Saturday. When they were let go Swift Spear and My Money went nut first from High Star, Kilberis and Valpai. Passing the stands High Star was showing the way to Swift Spear, My Money and Kilberis, with All Irish, Valpai and Golden Spahi heading the others. Along the back High Star and My Money were clear of Kilberis and All Irish, with Swift Spear and Valpai next. All Irish was alongside High Star at the entrance to the straight, with My .Money, Kilberis and London following. All Irish headed High Star after they jumped the last fence and went on to heat him easily by three lengths, with Kilberis two lengths and a half further back. Favourite Fails. The favourite failed again in the Dominion Handicap, where the fourth favourite, Su|>erior Guard, came in by a three lengths' margin, with the eleventh favourite, Hesketoon, second. After filling a minor place on several occasions, Superior Guard opened his winning account in the Dominion Handicap. He was always in a handy position and came home strongly. Hesketoon also finished in good style for second money. CLntrace showed a lot of pace, and is sure to improve. The favourite, British Nation, after being well placed, failed in the run home. Australian Star led out from Bonnybelle, British Nation and Fleur d'Or. Bonnybelle ran to the front crossing the top from British Nation and Superior Guard, and Senacre, Fleur d'Or, Australian Star, Love Parade and Bright Idea came next. Superior Guard ran through, and was first into the straight from General Riske, Bright Idea. Love Parade. Devon and Broadway Bill. Over the last furlong Sujwrior Guard drew out to win by three lengths from Hesketoon, who finished fast to beat Cintrace by a short neck for second place. King Silver was fourth, with Broadway Hill and British Nation next, and the "others tailed off.

Unique Performance. A lather uuhjiic performance was put up by Superior Guard in the -Waitakere Handicap, when, after accounting for the previous event, the Dominion Handicap, he dead-heated for first place with a ? °n Moth. This is unprecedented on a metropolitan course in Auckland, if not in the Dominion, durii)" the last 20 years. However, about two seasons ago Little Ruse started in two successive events at Ta manga and won them both. Superior Guard, until to(iay, had not won a race, although he had been racing for over two years. Ims makes his performance to-day all the more impressive. When they were let go Hunting Blood began first from Mai de Mer, Windcress and Hutana.
