FINAL DAY.
AT AVONDALE.
AIRAM'S SUCCESS. TAKES AUTUMN HANDICAP. SUPERIOR GUARD WINS TWICE The weather was perfect and there was a good attendance for the concluding day of the meeting, so that it seemed likely that the totalisator figures would show an improvement on those for last year. Opportunity was given to-day to Mr. H. R. Clarke to appear before the judicial committee in connection with the running of his horse, Celtic Lad, in the Avondale Hurdles on Saturday. The explanation of Mr. Clarke was accepted. Superior Guard fulfilled an earlier promise when he won the Dominion Handicap by a comfortable margin, and Hesketoon (an outside pick) caused a surprise when he raced the second favourite, Cintrace, to get second place.
