CRASH INTO POLE.
YOUNG WOMAN KILLED.
MOTOR CAR ALMOST WRECKED. Miss June Sidney McGlynn, 20-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McGlynn, of Thames, suffered fatal injuries about nine o'clock on Saturday night when a light two-seater roadster collided side-on with a power pole and overturned on the Faeroa-Te Aroha highway at Waitoki. Miss McGlynn suffered severe injuries to the head and body, and she died on the way to the Paeroa Hospital.
Driving the car was Mr. Douglas Alfred Court, of Thames. He received cuts and facial abrasions and severe shock. After medical attention he was able to go home.
The car apparently skidded on a slight curve, the whole of the rear portion being wrecked and the left-hand back wheel wrenched off.
An inquest was opened yesterday afternoon by the district coroner, Mr. F. E. Flatt, J.P., and was adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been taken.
