SPECTATOR AT SPORTS i HIT BY RIDERLESS CYCLE. i TWO BOYS ALSO INJURED. ■ I SYDNEY, March 14. j One of the best-known and most highly-respected residents of Wollongong, Mr. James Andrews, was killed instantly while watching motor cyele racing at Monkey Flat, part of Tom Thumb Lagoon, situated between Wollongong and Port Kem£la. Harry Martin, of Wollongong, watt one of the competitors iir the third event on the programme when his machine went amiss and he was thrown off, suffering concussion. Andrews, wita others, was in a stooping position near the track, which is unfenced, when the riderless machine struck him on the head, fracturing his skull and breaking j his thigh. Careering on its course, the machine struck a lad, Arthur Laurence, of Coniston, breaking his leg, and then went on to break a leg of another lad. John Sixsmith, also of Coniston. A young girl was hit by the machine, but was not injured. Illawarra ambulance took the injured to Wollongong Hoipital, and the body of Andrews to the hospital morgue, Andrews was a foreman linesman on Wollongong Council's electricity scheme and a valued employee. He was bandmaster of Wollongonnr Town Band, and a member of the M.U. Oddfellows. He leaves a widow and family of three.
