ACHILLES RETURNS.
BRIEF STAY IN PORT. i ROUGH WEATHER ON THE COAST. I The flagship of the Xew Zealand Division of the Royal Xavy, the Achilles, returned to Auckland from Wellington for refuelling this morning after an absence of several weeks. The ship will proceed to Russell on Tuesday, later proceeding to Wellington, the Hauraki <!ulf (for periodical exercises) and Auckland finally on April 28. The Achilles left the naval ba«e with the Leander on January 20 for Australian ports. The two cruisers kept company until well into the Tasnuui Sea, and they carried out full-calibre firing before parting company, the Achilles steaming to Sydney and the Leander to Melbourne. At Sydney the flagship represented Xew Zealand at the sesquicentennial celebrations. She later proceeded to Jervis Bay, where, aecompanv?d by the Leander, she took part in exercises with units of the Royal Australian Squadron. On February 18 she arrived in Melbourne, leaving on February 20 for South Island West Coast sounds. Bluff. Dunedin and Wellington. Rough weather was experienced on the coast.
