FALL FROM TRAIN.
PASSENGER INJURED. CONDITION NOW FAIR. When he fell between a carriage of a moving train and the platform at the Glen Eden railway station last evening, while attempting to board the train, Mr. Patrick Rhind, married, aged about 45, of Waitakere, suffered severe head injuries and concussion. Mr. Rhind was travelling home by the train, which leaves Auckland for Waitakere at 5.23 p.m. Apparently he had alighted at Glen Eden, and, on hearing the train begin to move, he hurriedly, attempted to board it. The porter at the station. Mr. C. J. Jiagnall, paid he saw Mr. Rhind run across the platform and attempt to grasp the handrail of the second to last carriage. Missing his grip, he fell between the platform and the wheels of the carriage. With his head between his knees, he was rolled- over and over in the direction the train was proceeding until the last carriage passed. He then stood up, walked aeroms the platform and sat down. When Dr. Rhodu. Robb, of Henderson, arrived, the injured man was unconscious. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition this morning was fair.
