CHILDREN ON THE STREETS.
I There is an outcry just now about the large number of children playing on the streets after school —quite rightly, too. I wish to point out to all mothers that, after two years of social work, nearly every case I have had to look into happened after school, or when a child's father has not been home. Too many mothers send their children to other homes to plav instead of looking after them at home. Thus the children run wild, with no one to look after them and are soon led astray by other children. The school teacher and parents should make it clear to all children that ther must go straight home from school and stay liome. It is away from good homes that we find the mcn-t trouble. There is an urgent need of some by-law that all children under fourteen must be kept off the streets: that is to sav, no street should be used as a plavground. ' SOCIAL WORKER."
