IS FRANCE ASSISTING?
(To the Editor.) | Among the many disturbing items of news 1 there is one that is particularly worthy of note. This is the report that an "enormous quantity of excellent artillery and plenty of I munitions have arrived in Catalonia" from "a nearby country." If this is true, it can surely 'mean nothing else than that France is now 'openly intervening in support of the Leftist factions in Spain. In other words, committing 'an act of provocation. So far the danger has j been that the British Commonwealth of jXations would, through intervention, be made j the tool of the Leftists in their ideological | crusade against Fascism. Xow. it seems, there jis a chance that we are to have the privilege of losing our lives in the defence of French Imperialism. R.F.P.
