X-RAY WORK AND DIET
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Thursday. Recent developments in medical research were described by Dr. Alan Tennent. of Wellington, medical officer to the New Zealand Coronation contingent, who returned yesterday after being engaged in professional work in London. Dr. Tennent said that great advances were being made in X-ray work, both from the diagnostic and the therapeutic points of view. This applied, too, in the field of investigation of gastric disorders.
Another matter to which great attention was being paid was the question of diet from the point of view of prevention of disease, particularly in relation to dental caries, added Dr. Tennent. Very extensive experimental work was being done in this direction at Honolulu, showing the value of tuber starches as preventive agents.
