Excellent going was provided on the course proper at Te Awamutu this morning, the flags being out about 10ft for fast work. Several useful efforts were recorded, and all candidates for Elkrslie will strip in a fit condition.

Lady Astrid (Murtagh) was first out, and was eent along over her last two furlongs in 28s. Gallio (Goulsbro) pleased by coming home from the eix-furlong peg in 1.16 1-5. He is in excellent fettle. Barricade (Goulebro), over a similar distance, took 1.23%, which he could have bettered. Balinavar (Home), with the assistance of British Nation (Lewis) over the last five furlongs, completed seven in 1.30, the last five in 1.5. Balinavar looks improved for hie Avondale outings, and has good prospects. Hutana (Home), over six furlongs, was timed to occupy 1.18 4-5. Galilee (Goulebro) was sent five furlonge, and with Lady Diana to assist her over the last two, took 1.3 2-5 —a nice effort. Loombination (Home) was sent over a mile and a quarter, and after taking 27 3-5e for hie first two, completed his task in 2.16. Besiege (Goulebro) wae eent five furlongs, taking 1.7, the last three in 39 l-ss. He worked well. Celtic Lad (Savage) and Cape Maria (Home) came home from the two-furlong post in 27e. Te Hero and First Flutter were also worked, but were not after time.

On the inner plough were Illuminagh, Orate, Torch, Cheyal de Volee, The AceLady pintra gelding, Clooneen, Maxown, Tonnerre, Nugget, the Vaals—Gold Bud filly, Dombey, Lady Meath, Muekon, Rulette and Tuaheahe.
