AWATEA'S VOYAGE. Captain Expects to Reduce Record. MAY BE THREE HOURS PASTER. United Press Association. —Copyright. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The 'TDailv Telegraph" says the Awatea is now racing toward Sydney in an attempt to lower her own Tasman Sea record. Captain Davey, in a radio telephone conversation with the paper, said he expected to knock at least three hours off the record.
The Awatea set a record on her voyage from Auckland, which, concluded at Sydney on September 6, the trip taking 2 days 9 hours 32 minutes. Three gales were met on the crossing.
