CATHOLIC DIVORCES.

Sacred Roman Rota Annuls Thirty-four Marriages. 21 WITHOUT PAYMENT. (Received 12 noon.) ROME, October 1. Thirty-four marriages were annulled in the past year by the Sacred Roman Rota. Announcing this to the Pope when opening the Rota's judicial year, Monsignor Grazioli, Dean of the Court, said 78 pleas for annulment were heard. Twenty-one were taken without payment, showing how false was the widespread belief held even by many calling themselves Roman Catholics that in Catholic Courts it was only possible for the rich to find paths to a new marriage.
