BRITISH MUSIC.
TRADITIONAL AND MODERN ITEMS.
In accordance with the prevailing spirit of national pride and remembrance, British music, traditional and modern, was performed by members of the vocal and instrumental circles of the Society of Musicians at its last meeting. Pianoforte compositions included:— Nocturne in K Flat (John Field), "Pantalon Rouge'' (John McEwen), "Little Polly Flinders" (Leo Livens), "Whim" (York Bowen), Two North Country Folk Sketches (Karrar), played by Mies Mildred Spargo, Miss Nancy Francis, Miss Nancy Vaughaii; Miss Connie Martin and Mrs. Vera Fowler. Traditional airs arranged by modern composers were sung by Mrs. Phyllis Randon, Miss Patricia McLeod, Miss Edna Smith, Miss Phyllis Lindridjre, Miss Lorna McLeod, Miss Owen Wilkins and Miss Margaret Young. The accompanists were Miss Amy Hansard, Miss Laurie Young, Miss Doreen Collins and Miss Netta Simich. The convener, Mr. Webber, thanked the guest of the evening, Master Dick Hoffman, for two brackets of violin solos which included a composition by the performer and a Haydn Minuet in E I Major.
