WOMAN ATTACKED.
YOUTHS' BRUTAL CONDUCT.
ATTEMPT TO ROB DAIRY. (By Telegraph.— Prefca A«socUtto».), WELLINGTON, Wednesday. When three youth*, aped Iβ to 17J years, appeared in the Children's Court at Petone, charged with assaulting a woman with intent to rob, Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., described it as the worst case of its kind in his experience. According to the police, the youths had been discussing bag-snatching, but one said there was an easier way to get money, as he knew of a woman who kept a dairy on the Hutt road and lived alone, and they could rob the till. One boy took a tyre lever aad each of the others an iron bar. While one kept watch in front the other two went to the back and knocked. As soon as the door opened they pushed the woman into a pantry and one hit her on the head with a tyre lever. .She screamed, and a boy pushed his fingers into her mouth to silence her "and knocked out her false teeth. Frightened by her screams, they ran away. The woman was stated to be still receiving medical treatment, and had a scar on her head. One of the boys is to be sent to a home, and the other two are to be kept under supervision for two years. Two were further charged with theft associated with snatching a. bag from a young woman, and there was also a charge of theft from a department store and charges of giving false fire alarms.
