WEST END CLUB.

An annual event which is always responsible for keen competition at the West End rowing shed is the pair oar handicap trials for the Rnssell Cooper caps. Mr. Cooper Is an enthusiastic supporter of the club, and several years ago held the position of deputy-captain. Later he was elected as vice-president.

Water conditions were choppy. The contest attracted five entries. Three heats and a final were to be rowed, but on account of gear trouble to one of the boats in the third heat that race and the final had to be postponed till one night next week.

In the first heat Smith and Chester beat Langham and Parnell, and in the second heat Bellamy, and Allum beat Bigelow end Blgelow. The third heat was declared no race.
