WAITEMATA CLUB.
The Waitemata Boating Club held a set of handicap pair oar trials for the shield presented to commemorate the club's fiftieth jubilee by Mr. Jim Walt, vice-president, and a foundation member. Seven crews competed and the Hobson Bay course, sheltered by the railway embankment, was rowed. The officials were: Starters, Mr. C. C. Cairns and Mr. R. G. Baxter; Judges, Mr. T. Marshall and Mr. P. Usher. The racing resulted :— First Heat.—J. McCowan. F. Weaver, 12s, beat J. Jones, F. Cairns, 20s. Second Heat.—C. Cairns, V. Haywood, Bs, beat J. Ross, J. Sweeney, 40s. Third Heat.—J. Childs, A. Harper, 12s, beat L. Roes, T. Bellringer, ss. Semi-final, —O. Denison, Brown, scr, beat J. McCowan, F. Weaver, 20s.
