STEELE TOO GOOD FOR RISKO.
RETAINS THE MIDDLE-WEIGHT. NEW YORK, February 21. Freddie Steele retained the world middleweight title on Saturday, defeating Babe Risko after ,an unexciting 15-round bout before a small crowd at Madison Square Garden. The decision of the judges and referee was unanimous in awarding 11 rounds to Steele and four to Risko The receipts totalled 15,680 dollars. Rlsko appeared extreme!v slow in comparison with his rival and instead of employing tlio reckless abandon characteristic of him lie. retreated constantly, pressing Steele l<> only infrequent flurries. Thus Steele was unquesli the. winner, since lie diil most of the lighting. Steele's l.est round was the sixili, in which lie. hurled Klsko to the ropes and rocked him with hooks to the face and body. Tile round was awarded to the challenger, owing to it low blow by Steele. Steele caught Risko off his balance in the fourteenth round and sent liim to the canvas for a fraction of a second.
