AMAZING THEORY OF SOVIET TRIALS.
VICTIMS DRUGGED.
Responsible Medical Views
Expressed. FORCING CONFESSIONS. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, February 4. Responsible medical opinion, as expressed in the current issue of "The Lancet," gives credence to the theony that the Soviet trial victims were and hypnotised to compel them to make false confessions. "Certain drugs produce a dreamy state of mind in which a patient may lose his inhibitions and talk more freely about past experiences," the paper states. "The drug hypothesis alone does not explain the apparent volte face of these Russians, but there may have been a combination of drug and hypnotism." A fierce, nation-wide anti-Trotskyite drive has been resumed, says a message from Moscow. Even common murderers and hooligans are being roped in for trial as Trotskyite terrorists.
