CANNOT WEAR SILK.
SO COOKS WILL NOT APPLY.
LONDON, January 30. "Sh t shall walk in silk attire, and siller Tiave to spare" does not apply to the resident cook at the Barnet Isolation Hospital—except on her day out. When the matron told the management committee that she had advertised tor a cook and received only two replies, Mr. A. B. Vialou, a committeeman, ,»uggested that suitable cooks might be deterred by the fact that the staff is compelled to wear black worsted stockings. "Dress regulations apply only while the staff is on duty," explained the matron.
